Airtours’ Top Luxury Holiday Destinations

Our hard-earned holiday is our favourite time of year. Whether you’re the lounge-by-the-pool type, a get-up-and-go explorer, total culture-vulture or simply want to be pampered – we’re all looking for a touch of luxury when we go away. To help you get the downtime you deserve, the holiday know-it-alls at Airtours have put together this list of their favourite destinations that promise indulgence all round. See which suits you best.

For adventure and excursions: Dalaman, Turkey

Dalaman is your gateway to the spectacularly beautiful Turkish Riviera. Scattered along hundreds of miles of coastline you’ll find everything from white sand beaches to soaring mountains, ice blue rivers, ancient ruins and quaint resort towns. Wherever you stay, expect great food and true relaxation in idyllic surrounds. Highlights include Saklikent Gorge, where you’ll traverse the bottom of a 300-metre deep Canyon before sitting down for some shish kebabs in bunks above the Gorge’s waters, or a sink into the rejuvenating pits at nearby Dalyan’s mud baths. For real luxury, favourite resorts of ours include Kalkan, Olu Deniz and Fethiye.

To be right on the beach: Cuba

Cuba is an increasingly popular destination for a whole host of reasons. And if it’s not the incredible and colourful landscapes on offer, it’s often the second-to-none resorts and impeccable service. Spots such as Varadero are now flanked with some of the most luxurious resorts the Caribbean has to offer. Almost all are beach-side, so you’ll have the good fortune of your pool being just meters from the sand and a few more from the sea – with only a beach-bar serving real Cuban mojitos standing in the way.

For culture galore: Goa, India

Once the subcontinent’s best-kept secret, Goa is easier to get to than ever. An explosion of colours, cultures, spices and sounds, you’ll find plenty to see and do when you visit India. Head into the towns and be prepared for the smells of authentic street food to fill the air between bustling market stalls selling handcrafted fabrics and jewellery – you won’t want to go home empty handed. Between the sheer indulgence of Goa’s resorts, there’s a truly immerse cultural experience ready and waiting.

For VIP treatment: Ibiza, Spain

The Balearic island of Ibiza is the Mediterranean’s number one luxury retreat. World famous for its nightlife, there’s more to the White Isle than disco lights and world-renowned DJs – in fact, Ibiza’s beach clubs and rooftop retreats are every bit as iconic. To stay in style, consider a spot in bustling Ibiza Town or upmarket Santa Eulalia and Es Cana – the latter of which hosts hippy markets. From there, head to the likes of Cala Jondal, where exclusive bars and restaurants flank the shore and offer all-day table service on the sand.

For escaping from it all: Cape Verde

If you want some real, serious downtime then Cape Verde is surely the place to go. This archipelago of African Islands hosts volcanic mountains, tropical scenery and white sand beaches. There’s a whole host of spots to choose from; stay near town to dip your toes in the Portuguese-African culture, or head somewhere super-remote for some uninterrupted relaxation – it’s up to you!

Whichever of these fantastic destinations you choose; you can expect sun, fun and indeed luxury aplenty. Safe in the knowledge that your feline friend will be getting pampered just as much here at home, start planning the break you deserve. Air tours would be delighted to give you a helping hand.
