    Meet The Family

    Amy first came across Longcroft when she was struggling to find a suitable cattery for her own
    beloved cat Mary: “My cat Mary came from a local rescue centre and she is very anxious. Yet
    the level of care and detail that goes into every Longcroft hotel put my mind at ease.
    Unfortunately, there were no cat hotels nearby at the time when I was looking into options for
    Mary. But that inspired me to open up my own Longcroft Hotel in Sheffield. Working with
    cats has always been a passion of mine and now that the timing is right, I finally get the opportunity to do what I love. I am excited to begin this new chapter and I feel so lucky to
    be spending time caring for gorgeous cats and providing peace of mind to their owners.”

    Amy grew up in the Cotswolds and from a young age showed a love for animals; whether this
    was buying RSPCA magazines, educating herself on cat and dog breeds, or rounding up the
    resident cats for a chit-chat! Amy moved to Sheffield, where she graduated with a law degree
    in 2014. She then undertook legal work and later worked as a civil servant. But Amy always
    dreamt about fulfilling her dream of working with cats. She is now very excited to be
    embarking on her new Longcroft adventure.

    Amy and her husband, James, live in Fulwood, a leafy suburb of Sheffield, located near to the
    edge of the Peak District with beautiful views of the valleys and wooded areas. The hotel itself is cited in a secluded location, set back from the lane. The surrounding gardens are landscaped in such a way as to encourage wildlife to visit – so plenty to keep Amy’s feline guests entertained!

    Emma put me at complete ease

    It was so hard to decide what to do with our precious British Shorthair Terry Cat when my husband and I had to travel earlier this year. We looked at lots of options and when I spoke to Emma at Winchmore Hill Longcroft Cat Hotel on the telephone, she put me at complete ease and the decission was made Terry would be staying at Longcroft. Terry stayed with Emma for approx 18 days and Emma sent us regular photos and health updates. Emma was even accommodating when we changed our flights and collected Terry few days earlier than planned. Terry was well groomed and seemed very happy when we collected him. We have now booked Terry in for Christmas Break.

    Highly Recommend!

    I would highly recommend Longcroft Barry Island to anyone who loves their cat and want to see him/her come back happy and well taken care of. The place itself is very cute, only 5 or 6 very spacious for cats. They are in a quiet garden and can still see birds and other animals while working in their social skills with each other. Sarah is a true cat-lover and took amazing care of my big grumpy old cat for 6 months. My cat is well fed, happy, calm and has clearly been relaxing a lot. Thanks Sarah for everything you have done.

    A great welcome

    Our elderly cat Willow has just returned from her 4th stay at Longcroft Cattery Barry Island. As always she has a great welcome and is so well cared for. The suites are always spotless and Sarah really does love the cats in her care.

    Utterly outstanding!

    Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel Barry Island is utterly outstanding! Sarah went above and beyond to look after our little monster, Link. This was our first time boarding Link at Longcroft, and we were anxious as Link had previously had a dreadful experience at another larger cattery, his first time away, where he was very visibly distressed when we collected him, cowering in the corner. We vowed this time to choose a small cattery or cat hotel were he would be better looked after. Sarah put us at ease straight away. She's very obviously passionate about cats, and very caring, and she understood our concerns and anxiety due to Link's previous experience.

    It's the best holiday they have ever had

    Having viewed at least 10 places locally and feeling very disheartened by the lack of connection with the proprietors , their lack of real passion in cats and also seeing that the cat suites where nothing more than just a basic wooden shelter with little security I was about to give up. Then I saw an advert for Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel, I immediately went the website and I knew there and then that I had found my cats the perfect safe place. Having put my 16yr old in a cattery before he had destroyed his room, pulled the cat flap away from the internal wall, so I was really worried. But to my surprise he quickly took to Abi and his new holiday home, within a few minutes he was eating and quiet contended. The 2 girls both seemed a little more cautious but after a while settled in happily. Abi knew it was my first time leaving them in a new place and that my eldest was on tablets and my youngest was very nervous and hated being away from me for long periods, but I knew they were safe and Abi would look after them. It was the first time I have left them and not looked back wondering if they are OK, are they happy? Which actually made my vacation more enjoyable. When I returned to collect them I was a little sad that they did not rush to meet me, instead they were lying on their beds chilling in no rush to move. I have already booked their next Holiday for 2015. If they could actually speak to me they would say ‘it’s the best holiday they have ever had and could I go away more often’.

    I have been bringing my cats to stay with Abi at Longcroft for several years now and I could argue that they prefer being there to being at home! They clearly love it there as when I collect them they are content, relaxed and have clearly thrived. Abi is always very aware of the welfare of cats in her care, and on occasions when I've had concerns about the health of one of my cats she has kept a close eye on him, monitored his weight and how much he was eating and kept me updated of how he was whilst I was away. A guaranteed home away from home for cats.

    My 6mth old kitten Antonio had his first stay away from home with Amy at Longcroft Fulwood and we both couldn't have asked for a better experience!Antonio was given lots of attention, cuddles and play sessions, and was clearly very happy with his home from home. Even though he only stayed for 5 nights, Antonio had a variety of different toys to ensure he was never bored at play time! When it was time to come home, we received a lovely little goody bag.Amy goes out of her way to make sure her feline guests are catered for from their preferred toys to special meals. The daily update emails and photos were very reassuring and it was so nice to see how much Antonio was enjoying his time away.The hotel itself is in a beautiful area with a lovely garden view for the guests to enjoy and provide additional entertainment.We will definitely be back in future! Thanks again!

    One of my cats needs medication and is very elderly and blind, the other requires a lot of stimulation, play and reassurance. Both cats had a great experience with Amy, returning home happy, relaxed, well fed and taken care of. Amazing and well worth every penny!

    My cat Tommy stayed here and had a wonderful time! He has anxiety from being abandoned by his previous home and usually is very unsettled in catteries but loved Amy and was very content. We were kept informed the whole trip so we could relax knowing he was happy!

    We chose Longcroft Luxury Hotel for our 13 year old cat Archie because he loves to sit in our garden at home and watch birds and squirrels so we wanted somewhere that had access to fresh air and outside space. We found this at Longcroft and so much more thanks to the amazing Amy and her obvious love and understanding of all things feline. We received lovely updates and photo’s every 2 days of Archie’s stay which we looked forward to getting and found very reassuring as this was his first time in a cat hotel. He was also very recently diagnosed with a heart condition but this didn’t phase Amy and she took detailed notes of all his medicines and how to administer them. Again this gave us reassurance and eased our mind he would be well cared for and we needn’t have worried because Archie returned calm and relaxed after his stay. Apparently he even had a little holiday romance after taking a shine to the cat he could see in the suite next door! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Longcroft Fulwood and we will definitely book Archie in for another luxury stay with Amy.

    If you are in any doubt about what to do with your cat whilst on holiday, book them their own holiday here!We were worried about leaving our cat and taking him away from home for the first time but Amy put our minds at rest straight away. The hotel really is luxury and guests receive 5* service - so much that Felix didn't want to come home! If your cat loves watching nature, this place is cat heaven.We received regular updates, tailored service and even a goody bag to take home. Amy was very accommodating to all of our needs throughout the entire process and enjoyed spending time with our cat as much as he enjoyed his holiday!

    First used Longcroft when we needed somewhere to take care of our cat for 8 days while we got married and went on honeymoon back in October 2021. Was so impressed right from the first point of contact, booking was done so easily and efficiently. We were even more impressed when we arrived to drop off our lovely boy and saw how much Amy cared for all the cats that she looks after and their owners. We were able to go away with the piece of mind that he would be happy, comfortable and well cared for. Amy definitely goes above and beyond in all that she does at longcroft. On collecting our boy it was clear he’d loved every minute of his stay as he came home with us so happy and relaxed. We have just booked again for him to stay for 2 weeks in August. Would definitely recommend.

    Bambi recently stayed for 10 days and had the best time, so much so that she didn’t want to leave when it came time for me to pick her up. Amy was wonderful, so reassuring and helpful and sent lovely, detailed updates of what Bambi was up to every day. Bambi is a rescue and can be quite a nervous cat but she seemed very comfortable with Amy. I will definitely be bringing Bambi here to stay for more holidays in the future!

    This was Marmalade’s first time at the Longcroft Cat Hotel and I cannot rate it highly enough. It was the first time I had been away since rescuing her and I was anxious that she went to the right place. From speaking with Amy on the phone to dropping her off and collecting her I knew I had made the right decision. The care and attention to detail is second to none. Marmalade was lucky enough to have the bonsai suite with beautiful views of the garden which is really tranquil.I had updates and photos from Amy every other day which put my mind at rest. Marmalade enjoyed it so much she didn’t want to come home.On collecting her I noticed how soft her fur was and how well she had been looked after. The little goodie bag was also a lovely touch.What an amazing place!!!! Thank you so much Amy, marmalade will be visiting soon.
