Welcome to Longcroft Welwyn – the original Longcroft hotel!

The original Longcroft Hotel, situated in the heart of Welwyn Garden City, is still owned and run by Longcroft Founding Director Abi Purser. Longcroft Welwyn offers just six luxury suites, located in owner Abi’s attractive garden and providing round the clock supervision, security and consistency of care for your cats. The peaceful location is perfect for both indoor and outdoor loving guests – a calm retreat designed with comfort and feline happiness in mind.

You’ll have placed your cat in the very best hands. Longcroft Welwyn is part of our award-winning family of boutique cat hotels, each individually owned and lovingly run by feline experts dedicated to personalised care. Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do and every cat receives plenty of playtime and one on one attention. All cat owners receive regular updates and photos throughout their kitty’s stay, giving them complete peace of mind that their feline family members are safe, happy, and thoroughly pampered.

Each of our suites comes complete with a thermostatically controlled bedroom, a wrought-iron bed with soft bedding, and an adjoining private play area that brings the outdoors safely in. Every guest can enjoy fresh air and the sights and sounds of nature while remaining cosy, secure and enclosed. Each suite features a full-height cat tree with sunbathing platforms and privacy films between suites. Daily housekeeping with meticulous litter care ensures every suite remains clean, calm and beautifully maintained.

Throughout their stay we provide tailored enrichment, gentle grooming, care needs and mealtimes to meet each guest’s established routine. For owners who value exceptional standards or for felines with more specific needs, we offer our Luxury All Inclusive Package and Medical Care packages are available. We can provide chauffeur travel arrangements on request.

    Meet The Family

    Abi Purser opened Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel Welwyn in 2010. She found inspiration for Longcroft when she struggled to locate a suitable cattery for her own family rescue cat, Norman. She felt dissatisfied with the approach she witnessed to cat boarding: large numbers of cats in row-upon-row of small cages, in an unengaging, uncaring environment. Abi developed a clear goal – to provide a new standard of feline boarding in the UK. After lots of planning and research she opened her own cat hotel, providing an unrivalled level of care and expertise in all things feline. Abi is a ‘people person’ as well as an animal lover and her focus on the particular needs of every client and personal touches, is what continues to make Longcroft unique.

    Before Longcroft, Abi worked for the British Equestrian Olympic Team and has always been passionate about caring for animals. Opening her own cat hotel in Welwyn Garden City was a dream come true: “I was delighted to see how popular it quickly became with other cat owners in Hertfordshire, who like me were looking for a caring, nurturing and safe place for their beloved pets to stay. So, it soon led to me developing the concept for the cat hotel group, which continues to grow as more people experience what Longcroft has to offer and want to work with us. I’ve been thrilled to be joined by our amazing hotel owners around the country, who share my love and passion for cats!”

    You have got it just right!

    We are so happy to have found Abi and her beautiful cat hotel. Our two cats stayed for the first time recently and seemed to settle in immediately. We were pleasantly surprised to hear from Abi while we were away informing us that they were quite happy and totally chilled. This type of reassurance, the wonderful setting and Abi's genuine love and knowledge of cats makes this Hotel by far the best we have ever come across and we have owned cats for many years.     It's the best holiday they have ever had

    Having viewed at least 10 places locally and feeling very disheartened by the lack of connection with the proprietors , their lack of real passion in cats and also seeing that the cat suites where nothing more than just a basic wooden shelter with little security I was about to give up. Then I saw an advert for Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel, I immediately went the website and I knew there and then that I had found my cats the perfect safe place. Having put my 16yr old in a cattery before he had destroyed his room, pulled the cat flap away from the internal wall, so I was really worried. But to my surprise he quickly took to Abi and his new holiday home, within a few minutes he was eating and quiet contended. The 2 girls both seemed a little more cautious but after a while settled in happily. Abi knew it was my first time leaving them in a new place and that my eldest was on tablets and my youngest was very nervous and hated being away from me for long periods, but I knew they were safe and Abi would look after them. It was the first time I have left them and not looked back wondering if they are OK, are they happy? Which actually made my vacation more enjoyable. When I returned to collect them I was a little sad that they did not rush to meet me, instead they were lying on their beds chilling in no rush to move. I have already booked their next Holiday for 2015. If they could actually speak to me they would say ‘it’s the best holiday they have ever had and could I go away more often’.

    I have been bringing my cats to stay with Abi at Longcroft for several years now and I could argue that they prefer being there to being at home! They clearly love it there as when I collect them they are content, relaxed and have clearly thrived. Abi is always very aware of the welfare of cats in her care, and on occasions when I've had concerns about the health of one of my cats she has kept a close eye on him, monitored his weight and how much he was eating and kept me updated of how he was whilst I was away. A guaranteed home away from home for cats.
