Discover how a leap of faith – and a love of cats – led Daisy to build a thriving business with Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel.
Nestled in a tranquil garden in the leafy London suburb of Orpington, six beautifully designed cat suites offer something truly special: a serene, luxury retreat for feline guests—and a fulfilling career for their owner, Daisy.
Daisy opened Longcroft Orpington in 2019 after moving with her husband, Kim, from the buzz of Central London in search of a calmer pace of life. “We were ready for a change, somewhere we could enjoy nature and raise our family,” says Daisy. The move gave them space and calm – and the purrfect opportunity for a fresh start.
After 15 years working in the luxury fashion industry, Daisy longed for a career that aligned with her values, passions, and family life. Having previously entrusted her own beloved British Shorthair, Terry, to a Longcroft hotel, Daisy had already experienced the brand’s exceptional care from a customer’s perspective. “We were regulars at Longcroft Winchmore Hill, and I saw first-hand how beautifully Emma cared for the cats. I remember thinking: what a lovely way of life.”
A chat with Longcroft founder Abi Purser turned that dream into a reality – and Daisy hasn’t looked back. “What I love most are our amazing guests! Some have been with us since the day we opened. We’ve watched their families grow – and they’ve watched ours grow too,”
Running Longcroft Orpington from her garden allows Daisy to be ever-present for her family, while spending her days caring for adorable cats. “It’s hard work – there’s a lot of cleaning and planning – but the rewards are enormous. The cuddles help too!”
Daisy also delights in welcoming all kinds of kitties, including rarer breeds like Maine Coons and Tonkinese, and takes pride in the trust her customers place in her. “Working with animals is a real privilege. Every day is different, and I love learning from each new guest.”
Her advice to anyone considering opening a Longcroft? “It’s a true family business. Everyone chips in, and it’s incredibly rewarding. If you love cats and want to build a meaningful life around them, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.”
