As demand for premium, home-from-home cat care continues to grow across the UK, Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel Group celebrates the success of one of its inspiring franchisees: Lucy, owner of Longcroft St Albans.
Lucy left behind a fast-paced corporate career in marketing – including many years as a Director at Starbucks – in search of a more meaningful work-life balance after the birth of her second daughter. She longed for a role that allowed her to be present at home, while still offering a rewarding professional purpose. When Lucy met Longcroft founder Abi Purser in 2012, it marked the beginning of a life-changing partnership.
“I was looking for a career that offered flexibility, purpose, and a chance to be at home during those vital early years with my daughters,” says Lucy. “Running my own Longcroft hotel gives me that, while being part of a supportive and passionate team.”
Lucy has always had a deep affection for cats – not just as companions, but as complex, characterful individuals. She delights in getting to know her feline guests, whether they’re confident and cuddly, shy and sensitive, or curious and full of energy. From mischievous Maine Coons to dainty Siamese and gentle seniors needing a little extra care, Lucy tailors each stay with knowledge, empathy and a genuine passion for feline welfare.
“I love the variety – every kitty has a unique personality and set of needs,” she says. “Some love playtime and attention, others want a quiet perch and calm surroundings. Understanding those subtle differences makes all the difference – and cat owners can see and feel that too.”
For Lucy’s customers, this expert, personalised approach brings huge peace of mind. Owners know their beloved cats are not just safe, but truly understood and cared for – whether it’s managing a specific diet, daily medication, or simply keeping to a familiar routine. The experience is designed to be as close to home life as possible, and Lucy’s commitment to one-on-one care and regular updates builds trust and lasting relationships with customers.
“I’m working from home, I’m there when my kids need me, but I’m also part of an exciting, trend-setting brand,” Lucy explains. “I’ve watched the business grow from one hotel to 25 locations – with more on the way. It’s flexible, profitable, and genuinely rewarding.”
