Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel Upwell celebrated its Grand Opening on Sunday 12th July 2026 in warm summer sunshine, welcoming guests to the Fenlands’ first boutique luxury cat hotel. Deputy Mayor Cllr Vivienne Spikings officiated the ribbon cutting ceremony alongside hotel owners and family team Nichola Hannigan, her husband Andrew and mother Elaine. They were joined by Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel founder Abi Purser.
Set in the family’s garden on School Road and surrounded by mature trees and open countryside, Longcroft Upwell has just eight suites in total, so every cat gets proper, personal attention from cat lovers Elaine, Andrew and Nichola. Nichola’s husband Andrew has worked hard to turn their family garden into a real haven for guests, landscaping and planting it all himself, and every suite looks out over his handiwork. Each suite has its own climate-controlled bedroom and a private, secure outdoor play area overlooking the garden.
With only eight suites to look after at any one time, there’s always time to get to know every cat by name, learn their little habits, and give them the one-on-one fuss and settling in they deserve. To celebrate the opening, the first 50 customers to book will receive a special launch offer, so get in touch with the team to chat about your cats and find out more.
Nichola said: “A huge thank you to Vivienne and all our customers who have come here to celebrate the opening of our lovely new cat hotel. I want to thank my family and friends, and particularly Andrew, who have supported me in getting to this point and fulfilling my dream of opening my own cat hotel. I look forward to welcoming my customers and their kitties to stay with us.”
Deputy Mayor Vivienne Spikings said: “It’s a real pleasure to be here today. These cats are going to have a wonderful time here for their holidays. Now I’m going to open the hotel and wish you every success.”
Friends, family, local residents and customers toured the new hotel, enjoyed Longcroft hospitality, and picked up goody bags on the day. The opening marks the 35th Longcroft location since the brand was founded by Abi Purser in 2010, as more people across the UK look for good quality care for their cats.
Abi Purser was delighted to attend the opening and said: “Thank you to everybody for joining us. Nichola and Andrew found Longcroft when they were looking for a place for their own cats to stay, and they loved it so much they went on to open their own Longcroft hotel. It’s so lovely when our customers make that leap to become Longcroft hotel owners themselves. Thank you to Nichola, Andrew and Elaine for all their hard work and I have no doubt they will make this location a huge success.”
