A new standard in feline care is arriving in the stunning Fenland countryside of the north Cambridgeshire, Norfolk border, as Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel prepares to open its 28th boutique hotel this summer in the charming village of Upwell, near Wisbech.

The new hotel will be run by caring family team Nichola, her husband Andrew, and her mother Elaine. Located on School Road and surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the Fens, Longcroft Upwell offers a peaceful retreat for cats, with views over the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Longcroft Upwell comprises just eight individually designed luxury suites. Each suite features a climate-controlled bedroom and a private, secure play area with multi-storey viewing platforms – perfect for adventurous climbers, keen bird-watchers, or those who prefer a quiet nap in the sun. Conveniently positioned between Downham Market and Wisbech along the A1101, the hotel is ideally placed to serve cat owners across Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

Family passion turned dream business

Nichola, Andrew and Elaine relocated to Norfolk together from Hertfordshire earlier this year, in search of a quieter, nature-filled lifestyle. Nestled within their secluded garden, the hotel is surrounded by mature trees, flowers, and abundant wildlife – creating what Nichola affectionately calls “natural cat TV.”

“We wake up every day to birdsong and complete peace – it’s something we never experienced before moving here,” says Nichola. “Our hotel is designed to share that same sense of calm with every cat that stays with us.”

The family’s journey into the world of luxury cat care was inspired by their own beloved cat Dakota, who joined the family during the pandemic and quickly became central to their lives.

“Cats aren’t just pets – they’re family,” Nichola explains. “We love the idea of being ‘trusted caretakers’ for other people’s cats, giving them the same love and attention we’d want for our own.”

Andrew, an arborist with a passion for the outdoors, and Elaine, a keen gardener and former healthcare worker, bring a wealth of practical and nurturing experience to the venture. Together, the trio are creating a haven where cats can relax, play, and be cared for to the highest standard. The quiet village location, provides a uniquely calming environment – perfect for feline guests seeking a relaxing countryside escape.
